Lisa Marie Presley Sells Calabasas House After Family Tragedy

Out in the San Fernando Valley’s Calabasas neighborhood, a house owned by music scion Lisa Marie Presley has sold for $2 million in an off-market deal, abruptly ending a brief ownership story that included a tragic family chapter. Presley bought the property in March 2020 for $1.8 million; scarcely four months later, her son Benjamin Keough — the 27-year-old only grandson of Elvis Presley — took his life on the premises, using a shotgun to fatally shoot himself in the head.
Unsurprisingly, Presley had little inclination to keep the property after her son’s death, and records reveal the new owner is a non-famous local woman. Set on a cul-de-sac within a guard-gated community, the vaguely Mediterranean-style stucco house was completed in 1989 and sits amid a tract of other similarly-sized, nearly identical-looking homes.
Because the property was never officially listed for sale, photos and details are scant, but tax records show the two-story villa measures about 3,600 square feet of living space with five bedrooms and four full baths, including a guest bedroom on the ground floor. Though the property’s exterior has remained largely unchanged for the last 30+ years, the interior was recently remodeled in a trendily contemporary manner with top-notch stainless kitchen appliances and a trove of recessed lighting. Upstairs, the spa-style master bath is notably large, with dual vanities and an supersized glass shower with its own inset soaking tub, for better or worse. Out back, there’s a grassy lawn area for Fido’s romps and stone pathways that lead to and fro the plunge pool, plus views over the surrounding hills.
Residents of this particular gated community — one of many in Calabasas — pay a hefty $439 in monthly HOA dues, which covers the cost of 24/7 guards, plus a variety of amenities that are not limited to pristinely maintained park-like common areas and several sports courts.
Presley herself has a long history with this area of the Valley; once upon a time, she and her former husband owned a ranch-style estate out in the neighboring community of Hidden Hills. (That house has since been torn down and is now the site of a megamansion owned and occupied by Kim Kardashian and her soon-to-be ex-husband Kanye West.)
Nikki & Robb Friedman of Keller Williams held the listing; Michael Olmes of Frontgate Real Estate repped the buyer.
