Norwich: ‘Sonic boom’ heard on home surveillance system
Taking to Twitter a local said: “In Dorchester. A loud boom followed by a series of staccato smaller bangs. Went on for a good 30 secs.”
Another resident added: “Anyone in Weymouth just hear a huge bang? House was shaking.”
Dorset Echo reporter Michael Taylor suggested the explosion could have been caused by a military aircraft.
However a Minister of Defence spokeswomen later said they did not believe it was caused by an RAF plane.
He tweeted: “Did anyone else in Weymouth just hear a bang or boom in the last 5 minutes?
