NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Monday convicted Ariz Khan for murder of police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and other offences in a case related to 2008 Batla House encounter.
The 35-year-old Ariz was nabbed by Delhi Police in February 2018, almost 10 years after the encounter that left two terrorists dead.
Additional Sessions Judge Sandeep Yadav said the evidence produced by the prosecution duly proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.
The judge said that it was duly proved that Ariz Khan and his associates caused murder of police official and fired gunshot on the police official.
The court will hear arguments on the quantum of sentence on March 15.
Khan, a suspected Indian Mujahideen member, was reportedly present at the scene of the crime with four other suspected terrorists but managed to escape, according to the police. (With inputs from PTI)
